I’ve been seeing these magical makeup remover towels all over YouTube and Instagram. I’ve seen the Original Makeup Eraser in Sephora, the Sephora brand Black Magic Makeup Remover Cloths, and the S&T Always Off Makeup Remover Cloths in Walmart. I caved and bought the Walmart version because I just had to know if these were hype or holy grail.
The Original Makeup Eraser ($20 USD for one cloth) is a pink cloth that claims to:
Remove smear-proof, waterproof makeup and mascara with The Original MakeUp Eraser®. Free of chemicals, this makeup remover gets rid of all types of makeup, including stage, sports, and theatrical makeup. Each cloth will last a thousand washes, and you only need to add warm water and then remove makeup. This ultra-soft, woven polyester-blend cloth gets rid of tough makeup without leaving behind a residue—just a fresh, healthy feeling.
Just add water to these towels to clean your face and remove all makeup. The cloths are gentle on the delicate skin around the eyes, remove make-up easily without cleanser, and may be washed and reused again and again. The included travel pouch makes it easy to take these essentials on the go.
Unique cloths, easy to use, made of polyester/nylon.
The reviews on all three cloths have people claiming that one of these little towels got all of their makeup off with little to no effort, even the most waterproof of liners and mascaras. Like I said, I purchased the Walmart version of these and tried them out with minimal makeup and a full-face. I can’t tell the difference between the cloth and a regular face towel. Yes, all of my makeup came off and the towel was easily cleaned afterwards but, all of my makeup comes off with an everyday towel.
I’m assuming the appeal of these types of towel is having a designated makeup remover towel in addition to my everyday face towel. It’s not that it does something my towels don’t do, it’s that it is specific for the task (like a butter knife vs. a steak knife). I must admit, I’ve recently run out of makeup remover wipes and don’t know what brand I want to try next so I’ve been reaching for my makeup remover towel to do pre-removal before I wash my face for the night. They come in handy but are definitely not a must-have purchase for me.
