In Part 1 of my recap + haul I showed all the products that were gifted to media reps at the show. We got some really great items but I still had a mini list of things I had to get my hands on. Even though I knew a certain retailer’s sale was around the corner, I wanted to get my hands on everything I could at TMS before placing an order online.
Most items at The Makeup Show are significantly discounted (I’m talking 20%-50% discounts) so it was really the perfect time to shop. I noticed tons and tons of people at Frend’s and Nigel’s (that banana powder craze just won’t stop) but I didn’t make any purchases from either of the retailers. I was disappointed that one of my favorite online beauty retailers, Lady Moss, wasn’t present at the show this year. I had my heart set on picking up more Red Cherry and KoKo lashes but it wasn’t meant to be.
The lines at NARS and Make Up For Ever were CRAZY! I’m talking lines wrapped around the venue, but that didn’t stop this girl from getting some goodies. I shopped at Sephora, Make Up For Ever, Crown Brush, The Lip Bar, and NARS. I actually surprised myself by not splurging and losing focus of my shopping list. Small victories!
I’ve had my eye on a few different Z Palettes but when I saw this rose gold leopard print one online at Sephora I knew it was the one! I was beyond happy when I saw they were selling them at The Makeup Show. This Z Palette is a limited edition Sephora exclusive, so if you want it snag it ASAP.
I went to the Make Up For Ever booth for a specific eyeshadow, they didn’t have it at the show but I ended up with another similar shade and three more. Canyon and Chestnut will make great transition shades on my deep skin. Blackened Purple and Burgundy will be awesome as lid and crease colors for sultry fall/winter looks.
In addition to the eyeshadows, I also purchased the newly formulated Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation (Shade 180/R530) and the Camouflage Concealer palette.
A girl can never have too many brushes. In my SnapChat haul it probably looked like I bought a thousand brushes but nope! I bought multiples of the same brush. I love the Crown Brush blending brushes; they last forever, don’t shed, and get the job beyond done. The Sephora Pro Angled Liner brush is my absolute favorite, this is a repurchase since I’ve misplaced the one I originally bought. The Sephora Pro Contour Brush is a new to me purchase but the brush felt so soft and I love the taperedness of it, I had to buy it. I’m sure I’ll make great use of it.
I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t find a liquid lipstick to purchase. I peeped indie brand The Lip Bar while I was standing in one of the longest lines ever and had to check out their liquid lipsticks. These actually haven’t even launched on their site yet, they’ll be available on Cyber Monday! This brand stood out because it’s a vegan friendly brand and I remember seeing them on Shark Tank. The deep grape purple I picked up is called Crown Me, and the fuschia toned one didn’t have a name on it. When I swatched these at the show they dried down quickly and took real elbow grease to get off. I’ll do a more in depth review later on.
Well, those are my goods from The Makeup Show Chicago! I had an awesome time, got some great products, and learned some really cool techniques that I’ll be trying and sharing in the future. Also, a little birdie whispered in my ear and told me there will be a Makeup Show Atlanta! I’m keeping my eyes posted to the website for the official announcement.
