Over the weekend it really hit me that the beginning of fall is around the corner. Saturday it was somewhere near 65 degrees outside! I’m not sure what calendar the Mother Nature is looking at but mine says autumn starts September 23rd. I need her to slow down! Nonetheless, the cooler weather had me looking through my closet and considering my look for the season.
I’m big on basics, because they can be dressed up or down and extremely versatile as you make them. In the fall I tend to focus more on neutral tones and allow my makeup or accessories be the statements. Bold lips, chunky necklaces, lots of bling! Right now I’m loving deep oranges, olive green, and navy.
Now that you have an idea of my personal style, here are some pieces that I’ve added (or hope to add) to my wardrobe.
I love this pencil skirt from H&M, it fits so well and hits at just the right spot. I can wear this to the office or out with the girls on the weekend!
I just started getting into the midi dress. I realize that it’s classic piece that can be worn with flats, Converse sneakers, heels, boots, a blazer, etc. And with my height it’s actually more flattering than full length maxi’s. It’s extremely versatile which is why I not only purchased the olive green but a black and white one as well. I couldn’t find the exact one I purchased but here’s a really similar one from Nordstrom. I see myself pairing this with a blazer and flats on a work day, and strappy heels on the weekend.
I’ve had to replace a lot of my basics due to significant weight loss (post on that later). Yay for my body, sucks for my wallet! I find a lot of basics at H&M, like this black and white striped top that didn’t break the bank but can be worn any and everywhere. I like that it has a very slight high/low effect which means I can wear it with high waisted bottoms as well.
Danielle of The Style & Beauty Doctor, swears by the ASOS Wiggle Dress and I can see why; if I could design an all occasion type of dress, it’d look like this.
I feel like this wouldn’t be a great fall fashion wishlist post if I didn’t include a good pair of denim jeans. I have been hunting for the perfect pair of distressed denim boyfriend jeans for at least two years now. Every pair I try on seem to be too holey, not holey enough, or there’s just something not right about them. I need to love them when I put them on. I have yet to find a pair but my style inspiration, Toya Wright is rocking this pair like no other! I love this look!
So far, that’s everything on the list. I think it’s pretty budget friendly so my wallet shouldn’t scream too loudly this time lol.
