Hi, my name is Taye and I’m a liquid lipstick addict. I just can’t help myself! Of course, I bought more so let’s chat about them. I have a love/hate relationship with the Milani Amore Matte Lip Crèmes I currently own. I love the super matte finish and love the colors; I hate that some of them are too watery, take multiple layers to become true to color, and they flake. They flake so horribly. See my previous swatches here. However, I love the Milani brand so much and they claim to have revamped the formula so I decided I’d purchase a few and hope for the best.
These weren’t as easy to find as the last collection that released in Walgreens. These shades are only available online and in select Walmart stores. If your local Walmarts are anything like mine, you’re already discouraged and ready to order online, I feel your pain. I got lucky finding these on a random visit because I was way too ready to just order online.
Let’s get to it, Milani says:
It’s time to put your lipsticks on notice. The Amore Matte Lip Crème has arrived. This revolutionary, highly saturated liquid-to-matte formula dries to a soft, velvety finish for fuller-looking lips. Its double-sided, flexible plush applicator hugs the contours of lips, working to lock in bold, opaque color. Non-sticky, smooth and ready for all-night wear, our Amore Matte Lip Crème is the ultimate transfer resistant kiss-me-matte.
I will say, I do like the applicator, it’s flat like a rounded spatula versus the typical doe foot applicator. These have Milani’s signature sweet vanilla-ish scent. They also dry down quickly and apply well. Out of the three I purchased I didn’t have to layer the color as I’ve done with others from the matte lip crème collection.
I purchased: Loved (nude brown), Sweetheart (bright fuschia), and Craze (bright coral). All of these are brown-girl friendly and can be toned down with a neutral lip pencil if necessary.
When it comes to staying power these are absolutely amazing! I initially swatched them on my hand just to see color, drying time, etc. After multiple washes and into the next day my hand was stained by Craze and Sweetheart. I legit had to scrub to get them off, that’s my kind of lipstick. On my lips, I got long lasting color that eventually faded but made a great stain to wear under a gloss. Yes, the color is long lasting but they still flaked a little bit. After the flaking (and I blotted my lips) I didn’t have an issue with the color.
These retail for $8.99 on the Milani website and I paid between $7-$8 for them at Walmart.
