You never realize how big of a stan you are until your faves start doing super duper dope stuff. Listen, I love me some Taraji P. Henson, she’s my favorite cousin *in my head* and I live for her style and looks. I even put her on my vision board for hair goals, her tresses are life! So, when MAC and Taraji announced a new collection my countdown started. I must have stalked the MAC site for days hoping for early release or a site glitch to no avail, but on Tuesday, September 6th around 8am everything I wanted was in my cart and purchased. I played no games, I legit stopped in my tracks on my walk to work to place my order.
The collection features two limited edition mineralized skinfinishes and a matte lipstick (other items in the collection are repromotes or part of the permanent collection). MAC says:
Taraji P. Henson has won the world over with her fearless performances, powerhouse confidence and charismatic spark. From her flawless skin to the quintessential nude lip and perfect smoky eye, her namesake online-exclusive M·A·C collection is as fierce as Taraji herself.
I do wish the collection came with something for the eyes, besides an eyeliner and mascara, since they did mention her signature smoky eye. I picked up both mineralized skinfinishes, Highlight the Truth and Taraji Glow, and the lipstick Strip Me Down. At the time of this post both mineralized skinfinishes are sold out online but you may get lucky at MAC stores or MAC counters.
Taraji Glow is a soft bronze coral with golden shimmer and Highlight the Truth is a reddish brown with such a subtle shimmer it almost doesn’t exist. Highlight the Truth is going to be my favorite cheek color for quite a while, it’s such a rich red brown that it can offer a subtle wash of color or a full blown blast. Taraji Glow took my breath away, I was ready to love it but I audibly gasped when I first swatched it.
Strip Me Down lipstick is supposedly a deep toned beige, however I get no beige from it. It’s definitely a pinky brown nude on my skin tone which I think is beautiful. I’ll definitely line my lips with a brown toned lip liner before applying to ensure it blends well but it’s totally wearable for deep skin.
I am so in love with this collection the products are great gorgeous, but I really love Taraji and what she represents for brown girls. Yaaaaaaaaas Taraji!!! Her collection can be purchased at www.maccosmetics.com and at your local MAC locations.
