If you’ve been keeping up with the blog you know that last week on my drugstore run I picked up the newest Black Opal True Color Pore Perfecting Liquid Foundation. The shade range on this foundation is pretty great for brown girls, every brown girl should be able to find their shade within this collection. I’ve never tried any of the Black Opal foundations, the stick foundation gets major love but I’ve yet to see a shade that may match me.
Let’s get into the Pore Perfecting Liquid Foundation. It claims to be a ligtweight, oil free liquid foundation that blends seamlessly to provide flawless coverage. Poreless technology helps minimize enlarged pores, controls excess oil and renews skin radiance. Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive.
I wore this foundation for a little over eight hours and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I was certain this foundation was going to oxidize terribly and I would be disappointed, I was wrong. The formula is extremely lightweight, I only used two pumps and my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to get a medium coverage. I did blot once during the day but that’s expected considering my t-zone is pretty oily and it was 92 degrees outside. I purchased the color Carob and it was spot on. It blended seamlessly and smoothly into my skin and I didn’t feel like a cake face. I will say, I don’t see the pore minimizing effect of this foundation, I actually feel like it enhanced my pores a bit more. Powder fixed this small issue but for that to be the main claim, this foundation fell short.
For a drugstore foundation this was a good buy and I definitely think it’ll be great in cooler temperatures (I’m thinking 70-80 degrees). I really put it to the test wearing it in this Chicago heat but it held up just fine. This foundation retails for $10.99 (USD) and can be purchased at Walgreens, CVS, and Walmart.
